PSAT Prep

Are you looking for the best PSAT Prep Colorado Springs has to offer?  That means you are looking for someone to show you or your child how to try obtain the National Merit Scholarship. SAGE Affordable Tutoring offers comprehensive test prep for the PSAT to raise your score and increase your chances of admission to your dream college.

What is the National Merit Scholarship?
The National Merit Scholarship that is given to the top performers in the nation on both the PSAT and SAT tests. The PSAT is also referred to as the NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Students can now submit a qualifying ACT test in place of the SAT towards the National Merit Scholarship if it represents the student better.

How well do I need to score on the PSAT to qualify for the next step of the National Merit Scholarship process?
Usually in Colorado, you need to score at least in the 98th percentile or above on the PSAT to be considered a candidate for the next step. The most recent score required for recognition was a 1450. Our average reported PSAT score for this past fall was 1392, which means our average student scored just below this minimum. EVERY YEAR, many of the local National Merit Finalists and Recipients work with SAGE Affordable Tutoring! For minorities, there are other ways to get recognition for high PSAT scores. Contact us today to find out how we can help you obtain these various recognitions.

What is the difference between the PSAT and the SAT test?
Good question. The PSAT is just a slightly shorter version of the SAT. The scoring is very similar, except that the PSAT is out of 1520 and the SAT is out of 1600. Our average NMSQT PSAT score this past year was a 1392, and our average SAT score this past year was 1388, the 96th percentile and the 93rd percentile respectively.

Has your Colorado Springs tutoring company, SAGE, ever helped anyone earn the National Merit Scholarship or move on to the second round?
Absolutely, we have the references to prove it. National Merit recipients are hard to find, so we are proud to say we have made them, not just met them. Of the approximately 2 million juniors that take it, only about 15,000 (or 1%) of them qualify as a finalists. Of those finalists, typically 8,000-9,000 scholarships are provided through the NMSQT program.

What makes your company the BEST PSAT prep Colorado Springs has to offer?
We are one of the only tutoring companies in Colorado Springs that has both the evidence of success results and conducts small groups rather than classes of 8-12 students. Some companies offer online classes that range from 25-100 students per class, which is outrageous. Many people charge ridiculous prices of $100-500 per hour for individual tutoring that is not even as effective as our small group classes. Our affordable PSAT classes consists of only 3-6 students. The only exception to this is our PSAT one week Boot Camps that are designed for students that need the extra push but are short on time. These occur about 3 times a year (Spring Break, early Summer, and late Summer).

Do you offer individual PSAT sessions?
Yes, but they do cost more, especially if you want us to come to your home. Contact us for details.

Do you offer PSAT Courses in Colorado Springs year round?
Yes, we offer PSAT Courses throughout the entire year; however, the best time to get started in the summertime before your junior year.  The most important PSAT typically takes place in October of a student’s junior year. In Colorado, another optimal time for sophomores is to get started in July for the Fall PSAT or January for the Spring PSAT to start forming a strong profile for future tests.

Can you conduct sessions online?
Absolutely. In fact, we tutor people all across the nation and even other countries for the PSAT, SAT, ACT and many other tests. We usually use various online platforms to conduct these sessions.
